Anatomy of hair follicle

This Amazonian formula combines traditional South American forklore medicine with proprietary adjustments based on modern herbal science to produce an effective dietary supplement for stimulating hair growth. Our formula is not the first of its kind. There are a variety of herbal formulas now on the market that assist sufferers of male pattern baldness by suppressing the action of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) naturally (see explanation below). Our formula falls into this group -- at lower cost than some of the more widely populated formulations.

Ingredients: See active herbals (located on the "Medicinal Herbs of the Western Amazonia" web page).

Explanation of DHT: Male and female pattern hair loss is largely due to the effects of DHT. When testosterone enters the follicles of those genetically predisposed to baldness, the follicles noticeably increase their production of the enzyme testosterone 5-alpha reductase. In turn, this enzyme converts testosterone to the hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Follicles exposed to DHT enter the resting phase and begin to atrophy and shrink. Eventually the follicle structure becomes so withered and shallow the scalp can no longer sustain hair growth. The atrophied follicles are not necessarily dead, however, and may be induced to resume growth with proper stimulation. Formulas that tout "DHT inhibition" (when effective) work by stimulating the follicle so that it can once again produce strong, healthy strands of hair.
